One Book,
One Lent
The
National Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Oregon have
selected
Forgiving
Ararat
by Gita Nazareth for
the One Book, One Lent program. This novel is the
luminous and astonishing story of Brek Cuttler, a
young lawyer and
new mother who dies unexpectedly
and, in the afterlife, is chosen to join the elite lawyers who
prosecute and defend souls at the Final Judgment.
This is a miraculous and mesmerizing novel about life,
death, healing, justice, forgiveness, and what it means to be
both human and Divine. The book is of particular interest to
Episcopalians because one of its most noble characters is a
female Episcopal priest.
